The Notification Center in Mac OS Mountain Lion is a handy centralized way to keep all the notification on your Mac in one central location, easily accessible, yet hidden when not needed. Much like the Notification Center in iOS, all the alerts on your computer can be organized by name then by time, and dismissed once read.
You can access the notification center on your Mac by swiping to the left with two fingers on the right side of your trackpad. So, starting on the right palmrest of your laptop, put two fingers on the palmrest, then slide them to the left on to the trackpad. Voila! The notification center slides into view on the right side of your screen! To hide the Notification center on your Mac, simply do the opposite: slide your 2 fingers back to the right, or click anywhere on the screen.
One of the best features of Notification Center on the Mac is the ability for 3rd party (non-system) apps to be able to integrate with Notification Center! No longer are those days of popups, sounds, Growl Notifications, and chaos! Now all your apps can notify you in one central location, and you can easily manage those notifications!
And, for those social networking multitaskers, you can tweet or post on Facebook right from your Notification Center – once you’ve signed in in your System Preferences.
Definitely one of the best innovations for the Mac yet!
